Immigrate to British Columbia for distance learning international graduates

Currently, for international student migration groups to British Columbia, only 50% of education must have been completed in Canada.

British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) announced on February 2 that international graduates from British Columbia now only need to complete at least 50% of their education in Canada to qualify for immigration.

This announcement means that graduates can do up to half of their studies in their home country. Students who completed the majority of their education in Canada and resided in their country during the Covid-19 pandemic can still be eligible to immigrate to this province.

Students who graduated before March 1, 2020 must have completed at least 50% of their studies on campus in Canada and in person. However, students who graduated on or after March 1, 2020, must have completed at least 50% of their studies during their stay in Canada, but this training does not necessarily have to be done on campus and in person. has been.

To prove education in Canada, applicants must provide documents such as a rental agreement, bank statement or utility bills.

This amendment to online education requirements is in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. To prevent the spread of the corona virus, travel restrictions in Canada and abroad are still in place.

Students who have participated in distance education courses will still be eligible for provincial selection. These courses are held almost exclusively online.

Exemption of international students from travel restrictions

International students are among those exempt from travel restrictions, provided that their accredited educational institution has received government approval for a COVID-19 response plan.

However, for various reasons, including airport closures, travel is still difficult for many international students.

Many educational institutions across Canada have chosen the option of online education. For this reason, most students prefer to attend classes from their own country.

Students are less willing to enter Canada after Mr. Trudeau announced stricter travel restrictions to control the spread of the Covid-19 disease. Travelers are required to take a PCR test upon arrival in Canada and stay in government-approved hotels for at least three days while waiting for the results. The cost of these conditions is estimated at around 2000 dollars for passengers.

Requirements for international graduates

British Columbia remains committed to immigration. The province continues to hold regular draws for the BC PNP and recently invited 216 immigration applicants to apply for provincial selection.

Applicants, as international graduates, can immigrate to British Columbia in four ways:

British Columbia International Graduate Group Express Entry stream

British Columbia International Post Graduate Group Express Entry stream

The flow of specialized immigration of the group of international graduates

The flow of specialized migration of the group of international post-graduate graduates

British Columbia’s Express Entry stream is aligned with the federal Express Entry system, meaning that to be eligible, you must have a valid Express Entry file through this stream and qualify for one of the main economic group immigration programs: Federal Skilled Workforce (FSWP), Federal Skilled Technical Workforce Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Group (CEC).

If you are an international graduate wishing to immigrate to British Columbia through the British Columbia Express Entry stream, you must have graduated from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada and have a job offer from an eligible employer. In addition, there must be a minimum income requirement for your job offer.

For the specialized immigration stream, international graduates also need to have high requirements. In addition, they must have graduated within the last three years and have the necessary conditions for language skills in the desired profession and job and prove the ability to financially support themselves and their families.

If you are a graduate student and wish to immigrate to British Columbia through the Specialized Immigration Stream or the Express Entry Stream, you must have a master’s degree or doctorate in an appropriate field, such as engineering, healthcare departments, physical sciences, and … and provide evidence of your desire to reside permanently in British Columbia. A job offer is not required for international postgraduates.
